摘要: Objectives: This study was conducted to look at the effect of depression on cardiac arrhythmias in patients with recent myocardial infarction.Method: A total of 104 patients with a recent myocardial infarction, who were attending the cardiology outpatient department in All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi were assessed for depression using Hamilton Rating Scale for Depression (HAM-D). Within 1 week of psychiatric assessment, a 24 hour Holter monitoring was done to look for cardiac arrhythmias.Results: Among all the 104 patients, significant depressive symptoms were present in 39.42% patients. As per HAM-D, 41 patients had significant depressive symptoms and among them, 19 patients had mild depression, 7 patients had moderate depression and 15 patients had severe depression.
