摘要: Estimates of unemployment duration are based on data from the Current Population Survey (CPS), a monthly survey of 60,000 households conducted by the US Census Bureau for the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). The CPS is the source of official labor force statistics, such as the unemployment rate. Individuals who are identified as unemployed—that is, people without a job who are actively seeking work, or on temporary layoff—are asked to report the number of weeks they have been unemployed. Their responses provide information on the length of unemployment spells, or unemployment duration.
