摘要: MethodTwo online experiments were conducted: one in the US (study 1: N= 138, Mage= 20.6; SDage= 2.0; 82% female) and one in Germany (study 2: N= 126; Mage= 28.6; SDage= 15.4; 60% female). Participants viewed one of three documentaries:(1) wildlife in Thailand,(2) Thai culture, and (3) urban life in Hong Kong. Well-established scales were used to measure enjoyment, appreciation, suspense (Oliver & Bartsch, 2010), and awe (Fredrickson, 2013). Due to the exploratory approach of this study, two measures of CtN were investigated: the Inclusion of Nature in Self Scale (Study 1; INS; Schultz, 2002) and the Connectedness to Nature Scale (Study 2: CNS; Mayer & Frantz, 2004). Exploratory factor analyses (EFA) were conducted with the awe items and the CtN measures (INS single item in study 1; CNS in study 2) to assess whether constructs are differentiable (RQ1). Furthermore, mediation analyses were calculated to assess whether awe and CtN mediate the effects of nature depictions on entertainment responses (RQ2).
