摘要: We examine how research policies can influence partnerships as demonstrated in the preceding case studies. These influences are discussed from both an exogenous and endogenous perspective. The definition of a partnership has evolved from that of a relationship between individual scientists conducting the work to the acceptance of a broader, more inclusive definition of partner and exchanges with other knowledge systems. This evolution also required an expansion of what are considered research products, as well as how they are to be used. In light of this expanded awareness, we conclude that an ideal set of research policy characteristics upon which to build strong and sustainable partnerships should be based on the following considerations: clarity of the intent, institutional goals, flexibility and transparency, flexibility for expansion, recognition of the legitimacy of different systems of knowledge, and a …
