摘要: This study investigates the damping of low frequency oscillations in eleven bus two area four machine system. Static VAR Compensator (SVC) is added to the excitation system of the generators in order to enhance damping during low frequency oscillations. Similarly, Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR) tuning approach is used to obtain supplementary controller parameters for oscillation damping. A comparison between the effect of SVC alone and the LQR is made. The performance of the LQR is found to be better than without controller under different operating conditions.
