摘要: Security has become a major concern for every network administrator. The Internet has accelerated at an amazing rate, the pace at which information is disseminated. With the growth of Internet, the things are becoming more and more unsecure. The very basic step that led to vulnerability is called Operating System Fingerprinting. It is the process of identifying a remote operating system based on the characteristics of its TCP/IP network stack and then tries to exploit the system based upon the weaknesses in current found operating system. Various attacks based upon Operating System Fingerprinting were analyzed in the University Campus. This paper discusses various approaches that are available to protect the system from Operating System Fingerprinting. And it is theoretically proposed that continuous monitoring of the system will help to reduce the rate of attacks.
