摘要: Pulverized coal injection is widely used for the sustainability of ironmaking blast furnace process. However, the quantification of unburnt pulverized coal in the blast furnace is not well understood. The gas-powder flow in a packed bed in the raceway presence is studied using a two-dimensional cold model to understand the static and dynamic holdups of powder. Due to the lack of clarity in the existing literature about the procedures for estimating the powder holdups, it is proposed in the present work that the steady state and dynamic holdup can be quantified based on the mass balance concept and elutriation velocity, respectively, to get reproducible results. The application of these concepts across both rectangular and cylindrical geometries helped to validate and reproduce the results.
