摘要: The overload exerted on many peer-to-peer (P2P) applications due to searches based on flooding can be reduced if P2P systems are provided with certain information about network topology and location of objects. In this paper we present a proposal for communication and management protocols based on P2P architecture for Scientific Collaboration Networks (SCN), which take advantage of the properties inherent in these networks, in order to obtain such information. These properties–whether, for example, the topology is small world, or whether they form communities–condition the way in which the network nodes are interrelated and the way in which information is located and propagated. This affects both the performance of the applications and the efficient use of resources. We present an informal description of these mechanisms and discuss the advantages that such mechanisms may have in comparison with those already existing.
