Thermal map analysis of tree trunks in urban parks with spatial statistics

摘要: Materials and MethodsIn this research, surface temperatures of tree trunks were analyzed using spatial statistics so as to determine the state of their health. For this purpose, the most central and widely used urban park in the city of Mytilene (Agia Eirini) was investigated with a total area of 11,955 m2. Initially, woody vegetation was identified and registered within and outside of the perimeter of the park and included only trees and shrubs (Table 1). The herbaceous vegetation was excluded because it was difficult to be identified, due to the fact that the grass being cut too often, removes the aboveground part of the herbaceous plants. The species’ names and the number of individuals of each species were recorded and during the collection of data representative photographs of the studied vegetation were taken. In order to survey successfully the health of the dominant tree species (Robinia pseudoacacia), 6 main steps were held:
