摘要: Latinx individuals in the United States are 2 times as likely to die from COVID-19 and 3 times more likely to be hospitalized due to COVID-19 than White non-Hispanic individuals. 1 COVID-19 cases are higher among Latinx populations than among White and Black populations in the United States, 1 demonstrating a critical public health crisis and substantial COVID-19 disparities that require intervention. Moreover, COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy persists in the United States, including among Latinx populations who are more likely to be exposed and die from the disease. The disproportionately high burden of COVID-19 among some Latinx groups is partly due to social determinants such as engaging in types of work that increase risk of exposure to COVID-19, 2, 3 demonstrating a need for research and policy attention on labor or work as a social determinant of COVID-19 disparities.
