Carbon Capture and Storage in Perspective

摘要: This report explores the costs and other implications of introducing an energy “wedge” of CCS in Australia between now and 2031. While many parties believe that commercial CCS is both not possible on a large scale or is at least 20 years away, all reservations have been put aside for the purposes of this report. To ensure unbiased estimates of timing, scale and cost, wherever possible the data of CCS proponents, including organisations currently developing CCS facilities, was used to develop this analysis. This was done in an attempt to make this a report that, as much as possible, reflects industry views about CCS.As costs to retrofit CCS to existing power stations are deemed prohibitively expensive, it was assumed in this report that new integrated gasification combined cycle power plants with CCS will be commissioned in South QLD, North NSW, the Latrobe Valley and Perth.
