摘要: What does a person’s central nervous system (CNS) do when this person learns a new motor skill? What changes happen in different neural structures? How are these changes related to the new patterns of control variables and interaction among the many neuromotor elements? What aspects of the new movement are memorized? These questions remain without answers despite the numerous studies in the fields of motor learning and neural plasticity. The main reason for the lack of progress is the lack of adequate theoretical frameworks. In other words, before trying to get answers to these burning questions, one has to formulate them properly. For the purpose of this paper, I am going to separate (rather artificially) the main problems of producing a purposeful motor action into those of control and coordination.
