摘要: The world today enjoys great benefits from the use of technology. Ease of information, accessibility and influence has increased tremendously over the generations. The smart city implementation can benefit from the focus use of applications built to address the impact of adverse weather. In this chapter, we explore the use in particular of geospatial technologies and the role it plays in aiding society in living with challenging weather conditions, particularly heavy rainfall that leads to flooding. The importance of the rainfall parameters and its contribution to the high-impact weather factors is emphasised. The scope of the implementation of the smart city principles are provided, followed by some applications in general and specific application for Kuala Lumpur.
