摘要: This work aims to the elicitation of visions and values of local communities in the Serra do Xistral (Galicia, Spain), within the framework of the stakeholder management for the “LIFE in Common Land”, European Commission funded project. The project’s main objective is the management of habitats classified as a priority for conservation, such as heathlands and bogs, through payments for conservation results and other protection measures. Much of the area, included in the Natura 2000 Network, is managed communally. Given the importance of the visions and values of local communities in habitat management, it is considered that a better understanding of those will result in improvements in the design of management systems. For this, information was collected through a qualitative approach based on semi-structured interviews and questionnaires. The analysis of the results has allowed mapping the management system and the network of stakeholders, as well as the perceptions, attitudes and conflicts associated with the integration of protection measures in the use of natural resources. These results will be useful in the subsequent development of novel approaches to ecosystem management and conservation.
