摘要: Fundamental to the forest controversy in the Pacific Northwest is the impact of forest practices on communities. It is generally assumed that reductions in National Forest harvest will adversely affect the ecoiiumy of the region and the well being of individual communities. It seems self evident that the loss of actual jobs harvesting and secondary jobs transporting trees and milling lumber cannot be good for these communities. Indeed, at the Forest Summit chaired by President Clinton and Vice President Gore and including four Cabinet Secretaries (Interior, Agriculture, Health and.
