摘要: Managing groundwater resources represents a major challenge, fast becoming one of humanity’s foremost priorities. The Mexico Basin (MB) contains the nation’s capital Mexico City, being one of the most important areas in the country for national economy, culture and history; it houses the majority of the important federal government offices and institutions. This is the largest urban area in North America and in the world, with a current population of circa 23 million, and constantly growing; increasing water demands have resulted in overexploitation of the groundwater resources over several decades, a classic tragedy of the commons.
