摘要: This chapter covers the fundamentals of electric power system and its components. A power system indeed consists of many more components. The major system components include: synchronous generators, power transformers, circuit breakers, disconnectors, instrument transformers, reactors, and surge arrestors. The power system load is another major component in the power system. It is for this load that power system planners have to plan for their system with the goal of serving the load reliably. The network of transmission lines is the major nervous system of a power system. Transmission lines can be classified into three broad categories: transmission system, subtransmission system and distribution network. The primary objective of investigating the power flow (aka load flow) for a power system is to estimate the key parameters of voltage, real and reactive power flow, and power losses.
