摘要: This submission responds to the question:“What policy and practical measures would be required to form an ongoing effective national framework to ensure the resilience required to underpin Australia’s economic and strategic objectives [?]” 4.The current COVID-19 pandemic has shown the world what can happen when a low-probability, high impact event occurs. Amongst the many impacts of COVID-19, we have seen the inability of international supply chains to meet Australia’s needs for medicines and medical supplies. In the US COVID-19 disruptions have extended to critical minerals supply chains (Murkowski, 2020). Other types of low probability, high impact events (natural disasters, conflict etc.) could have an equal, if not more, severe impact on the supply of a wide range of different commodities.
