摘要: Rice is a prime crop of coastal region and is affected by several stresses such as salinity and submergence during crop growth stages. The molecular mechanism of rice, having tolerance to salinity, includes salt balancing in a cell, insensitive enzymes for better physiological functions, and compartmentalization of toxic molecules. Similarly, for submergence tolerance, physiological mechanisms such as managing oxygen level within a cell, detoxifying the reactive oxygen species produced, and saving energy and metabolites are important. The present chapter is dealing with the molecular, genetic, and physiological mechanism for salt response at various growth stages of rice along with response at submergence condition.
