Mapping of antigenic sites on human transferrin by monoclonal antibodies

摘要: Transferrin is a plasma transport protein which has become a subject of interest not only for hematologists but also for oncologists, cell biologists and specialists in cell cultivation. Transferrin levels in the blood vary in a variety of pathological states, including some tumors cases. Membrane receptors for transferrin (TF) are expressed on tumor cells and growth-stimulated cells and are considered to be a characteristic of proliferating cells. We have decided to prepare a panel of monoclonal antibodies against human transferrin in order to study in detail the role of transferrin and its interaction with its specific cell membrane receptor.
