摘要: This study demonstrates the influence of field-measured outdoor sound levels from the urban environment in providing insight for building designers to design building façades that responds to its acoustic environment and improves indoor acoustic quality. Through fieldtesting, obtained outdoor sound levels expands to public data utilization through ArcGIS online mapping, bridging the gap between understanding environmental conditions and collecting data source. Among the most reported issues affecting workspaces, increased awareness to minimize noise led building designers to reconsider façade design and its response to its acoustic environment. Spanning from indoor sound quality to environmental noise, efforts towards noise control grows as population and urban density rises. In Oliveira’s “Planning the Acoustic Urban Environment: a GIS-centered approach”, research contributed to Urban Spatial Analysis Environmental System (SEAU), a tool considering city planning and environmental aspects with noise impact. A tool providing environmental acoustic analysis, the study demonstrated spatial elements to be a key attribute in improving acoustic analysis. Acknowledging the need to improve acoustic comfort indoors, efforts in improving the acoustic performance of the building envelope relies on assessing its acoustic environment. Utilizing a hand-held sound meter device, GIS-sourced data, INSUL-a sound insulation software, and ArcGIS, this study explores implementation of field-measurements to compose informative platforms that would assist building designers and the public in identifying the influence of environmental noise …
