Growth and characterization of novel organic quinoline 4-nitrophenol (QNP) single crystals for frequency conversion applications

摘要: The new organic nonlinear optical (NLO) single crystalsof quinoline 4-nitrophenol (QNP) were successfully grown by slow evaporation solution technique (SEST) using methanol as solvent. The crystal structure was confirmed by single crystal X-ray diffraction (SXRD) analysis. The crystalline planes and phase purity were analyzed by powder XRD (PXRD) measurement. The optical quality andband gapenergyof the grown crystal were obtained by UV-Vis NIR spectrum analysis. The QNP crystal was subjected to photoluminescence (PL) analysis and the maximum emission was found at450 nm. The chemical etching study was carried out and confirms that the QNP crystal has less dislocation density. The third-order nonlinear optical properties such as refractive index (n2), absorption coefficient (β) and susceptibility (χ (3)) were studied using Z-scan technique at 632.8 nm with a continuous wave (CW) laser.
