摘要: Sex has long been a commercial concern. Despite the frequent focus on the ‘prostitution’form of commercial sex, commercial sex has long existed in diverse forms and in recent decades it has increasingly been described using the rubrics of sex industry and adult entertainment. Forms of commercial sex extend beyond prostitution to include businesses that produce sexual goods and services for sale through bars, restaurants, cabarets, clubs, brothels, discotheques, saunas, massage parlors, sex shops with private booths, hotels, flats, dungeons for bondage and domination, internet sites, cinemas and anywhere else that sex is offered for sale ranging in frequency from occasionally through to commercialized sexual festivals. Commercial sex also includes the production of goods and services including erotic phonelines, escort services, films and videos, souvenirs, toys, clothes, equipment, and live and ‘virtual’spectacles via webcameras. Though most commercial sex is for heterosexual consumption, many of these venues cater to a broader range of sexual predilections and tastes, including Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex (LGBTI) consumers among their clientele.The social actors involved in LGBTI commercial sex, like in the broader sex industry, are diverse including not only those who sell sex directly and their customers, but also business owners and investors, independent contractors and non‐sexual employees (waiters, cashiers, guards, drivers, accountants, lawyers, doctors) and facilitators of business processes (travel agents, guides, estate agents, matrimonial agents, newspaper and magazine editors, internet …
