SHELL MODEL DESCRIPTION OF THE DEFORMED NUCLEI IN THE MIDDLE OF THE pf SHELL

摘要: In this talk I review some recent large scale Shell Model calculations carried out by the Strasbourg-Madrid collaboration. I will focus on the-laboratory framedescription of the collective behaviour of the deformed nucleus 48 Cr. Adding particles or holes to it we recover experimentally and understand theoretically such collective features as backbending, yrast traps, band termination, etc. These results can be compared with those obtained in a (deformed) mean field approach. I discuss also the role of proton-neutron pairing in N~ Z nuclei. Finally I present some results bearing on 56 Ni, its doubly magic status and the presence of a low lying highly deformed band
