One-pot synthesis copper sulfide based nanofluids for heat transfer applications

摘要: Copper sulfide based stable nanofluids were synthesized by one-pot synthesis method. Copper sulfide nanoparticles were synthesized by chemical reduction method in organic medium and dispersed in an aqueous base fluid in an argon atmosphere to avoid the oxidation. The nanoparticles were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The colloidal stability of the nanofluid was evaluated by zeta potential measurements and average hydrodynamic diameter (Dh) by dynamic light scattering (DLS), the thermal conductivity was measured by the hot wire method. The synthesized nanofluid exhibit an increase in thermal conductivity of 28% with a volume fraction (φ) of 0.60%.
