摘要: Juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) represents not a single disease but a broad spectrum of arthritides of unknown cause occurring in patients younger than 16 years that lasts for at least 6 weeks. JIA is the most common chronic rheumatologic childhood disease and causes significant disability. The diagnosis of JIA is based on clinical and laboratory findings. However, the diagnosis of JIA mandates the exclusion of other types of arthritis. 1 Imaging plays a vital role throughout the disease process, from the time of the initial diagnosis, helping exclude other diseases, in staging once the diagnosis is made, assessing treatment response to newer and more effective medications and disease activity, as well as evaluating complications. This review focuses on the classification of JIA, the role of imaging with emphasis on magnetic resonance (MR) imaging at diagnosis, staging, and follow-up, including its challenges, and some future directions.
