摘要: This chapter presents a case study on spatially explicit watershed runoff potential characterization using ArcGIS. The watershed characteristics greatly influence the origin, composition, and concentration of terrestrial-derived sediment-borne pollutants as well as their TOGGLEsequent deposition to surrounding aquatic environments. A Geographic Information System (GIS)-integrated characterization of watershed allows for spatial analysis of watershed characteristics that play a critical role in runoff. The major tasks to characterize a watershed include the analysis of spatial distribution of the following properties of the watershed: slope and digital elevation model (DEM) data, geology, land use and land cover (LULC), and soil properties namely, hydrologic soil groups (HSGs) and saturated hydraulic conductivity (Ksat).
