Development and Validation of an Optimal GATE Model for Pencil Beam Scanning (PBS) Proton Beam Delivery

摘要: We conducted a study to explore the potential utility of the GATE Monte Carlo (MC) code as an independent tool for dose calculation. We established a unified framework for dose calculation in pencil beam scanning (PBS) proton therapy (PT). Using GATE, we modeled the SIEMENS IONTRIS active scanned-based PT system. To verify the model, we compared depth dose profiles obtained from the MC simulation with experimental date. Additionally, we utilized the TG - 119 clinical test case from AAPM to assess the accuracy of treatment planning and delivery using proton beams. The results of the MC simulation demonstrated strong agreement with measurements, revealing a 2.3% in mean point-to-point, maximum relative error (RE) of 0.95% in range parameter, 3.4% in peak to entrance ratio and 0.852% in peak position.
