摘要: Purpose: To assess the impact of early (soft indistinct drusen, retinal pigment abnormalities) and advanced (exudative, geographic atrophy) age–related macular degeneration (AMD) on vision–related quality of life in Latinos. Methods: The LALES is a population–based prevalence study to assess the presence of eye disease and quality of life (QOL) in Latinos (primarily Mexican–American), aged 40 and older. All participants completed a detailed eye examination including stereoscopic fundus photography and a standardized interview including the NEI–VFQ–25. AMD was graded from fundus photographs using standardized protocols. The NEI–VFQ–25 subscale scores were calculated using standard algorithms.
