摘要: It has been established that volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and heavy metals (HMs) are potential sources of noxiousness and carcinogenic messengers when released into effluents or wastewaters. They can pose serious threats to land, water, and air as well as the health of flora, fauna, and human populations. Several techniques such as adsorption, filtration, and phyto removal, have been used to detoxify, clean, and remove these VOCs and HMs from the environment. These techniques have their inherent limitations such as their non-effectiveness, high cost, and non-eco-friendly nature. To this end, a sustainable and eco-friendly method using biologically based methods for the removal of VOCs and HMs from the environment has been recommended by many environmentalists.
