Development and evaluation of herbal syrup from extract of fenugreek seeds

摘要: Oral route is conventional and most widely used route for administration of dosage forms. Among different formulations, syrups are best because they impart sweet taste to the formulation and thus advantageous over bitter drugs. Fenugreek seeds are being used since time for prevention and treatment of several diseases. Fenugreek seed extract syrup was prepared and evaluated for physicochemical properties. The pH and specific gravity of formulations was ranging from 6.08±0.08 to 6.94±0.005 and 1.09±0.046 g/cm3 to 1.16±0.003 g/cm3, respectively. The percent drug content for all formulations was found in the range of 98.21±0.22 to 99.66±0.07%. Stability studies were conducted at 4 C, 25 C and 45 C for 60 days to determine the effect of storage on physicochemical properties of syrups.
