摘要: Because of the widespread use of a universal motor, it is very important that the energy consumption of the motor is as low as possible while satisfying the needs of the customers. An attempt is made in this paper to improve the performance of the universal motor through optimal selection of its geometric parameters. The two conflicting objectives considered are efficiency and mass of the motor subjected to the various systems constraints. A new optimization algorithm namely hybrid ABC-SA algorithm is proposed and applied to find the optimal combination of geometric parameters of a universal motor. An application example is solved to illustrate the proposed algorithm. The results of the proposed algorithm are compared with the previously published results.
