摘要: An important component of assessing lithic technological organization in the past is understanding the location, quality, and nodule size of knappable raw materials on the landscape. Geologic reports can provide some information, but they often lack detail on lithic materials of interest to archaeologists. What is needed is an on-the-ground assessment specifically focused on knappable lithics in a study area. This report presents the results of a lithic raw material survey in the upper Susitna River basin in the central Alaska Range. This study assessed lithic raw material sources available in the upper Susitna basin by consulting geologic maps and systematically documenting and sampling knappable lithic raw materials in drainages throughout the study area.
