摘要: The success of ultrasound application in animal production is largely due to its sensitivity and specificity. The accuracy of fetal sex determination using ultrasound in livestock is not yet validated. This study was conducted to evaluate the accuracy of ultrasonography in fetal sex determination from gravid uterus collected after slaughter. Ultrasonic sex determination was conducted in 52 fetuses inside the uterus and the length of the back in 42 fetuses were also measured and compared after dissection of the uterus. The evaluation of the technique was performed by the calculation of the predictive value and sensitivity. The data were analysed using Pearson correlation test and linear regression. Results revealed that the predictive values in diagnosing male and female genders were 69.23 and 30.76%, respectively, with an overall sensitivity of 75%.
