摘要: A conservation project–defined here as the process of applying resources to achieve a clearly defined endpoint, such as the recovery of a threatened species–requires the leader, who we will hereafter describe as the ‘project manager’, to take on both the ‘big picture’perspective of what he or she is aspiring to achieve alongside dealing with the necessary details to make sure that the work is successful. Managing a conservation project is not the same as planning, and planning is not the same as creating a project plan. It is not unheard of for a dedicated project working group to produce detailed species action plans that sit gathering dust on the shelves of conservation organisations. Similarly, without sufficient planning, conservation projects fail.
