摘要: This paper aims to study the design of the double-pass u-tube shell and tube heat exchanger used in the cooling system of marine engines using the finite element software COMSOL Multi-physics. Seawater is pumped to absorb excess heat, to be later used in providing energy for hotel services in the ship through the second heat exchanger designed for heat recovery. To optimize the efficiency of a system that consists of two heat exchangers, this study will demonstrate the simulation methodology of one heat exchanger. The design is validated by comparing it with the results published in [1] and will be verified in future work by applying energy balance at the inlet and outlet of the shell and tube heat exchanger (STHX) using the Software Engineering Equation Solver (EES).
