Near threshold fatigue crack growth- Experimental methods, mechanisms and applications

摘要: The general features of near threshold fatigue crack growth are described including the important mechanical, metallurgical and environmental factors known to have a significant influence on threshold Delta KTH. Experimental methods used to determine Delta KTH are briefly reviewed including the recently forwarded ASTM Proposed Test Method. Several examples of threshold Delta KTH applications are given with particular reference to rotating plant. Finally, various factors which prevent the general application of Delta KTH to practical situations are discussed.
