摘要: Purpose: Hyperhomocysteinemia (HHcys) reflects abnormal high blood homocysteine (Hcys) level. There is epidemiologicallybased evidence that HHcys is related to vascular disease. We aim to analyze the effects of oral supplementation of antioxidants/omega 3 fatty acids (A/ω3) in HHcys and diabetic retinopathy (DR).Methods: 177 participants were distributed into: T2DM with DR (n= 52), T2DM without DR (n= 50) vs. controls (CG; n= 75) in two year follow-up. Half participants were assigned to A/ω3 (one daily/pill). Demographics, clinical and biochemical data were obtained each six months through the study. Statistics were carried out by the SPSS 20.0 program. Results: Significant blood increase in Hcys and lower vitamin B12 were detected in T2DM patients vs. the CG (p< 0.05). Positive correlation was found between HHcys and fasting glycemia/glycosilated haemoglobin in our diabetics. Furthermore, HHcys …
