摘要: Cities' major decarbonization goals cannot be met without considering human‐related aspects (e.g. occupancy, behavior and socioeconomic dimensions) of energy use in various phases of the building's life cycle—design, construction, operation and retrofit. Advances in digital technologies and data‐driven approaches, including sensing, computing and AI, offer new opportunities to understand and reduce energy use in buildings. This article provides a review of occupant‐driven urban building energy monitoring approaches and effective systems to encourage positive occupant actions. It discusses how real‐time energy monitoring through Ambient Intelligence (AmI) systems enabled by AI and IoT technologies can support flexible and adaptive user‐centered environments and elevate occupancy‐related data for modeling and designing future scenarios.
