摘要: The world is increasingly facing the problem of water scarcity. The northern part of Nigeria is not exceptional as the country’s rainfall is decreasing latitudinally (northward). Preserving Hungu Dam is highly important in sustaining the livelihoods of more than 344,930 inhabitants (projected, NPC, 2022) in Albasu LGA, Kano State. This study investigates the environmental impact of a small dam on fisheries and the water development of Hungu Dam. The dam plays a significant role for the sustainability of livelihoods, not only for the communities in Albasu Local Government Area but also for the entire Kano region with over 17 million inhabitants (Jigawa and Kano States).
