摘要: I read with interest the paper by Davis and Racette on Parkinson disease (PD) and cognitive impairment. 1 While I agree that investigation and effective therapies are needed for cognitive impairment in PD, I do not agree with the contention that almost all patients with PD will develop dementia if they live long enough. In the novel Gulliver's Travels, Jonathan Swift describes immortal humans named struldbrugs. Although struldbrugs do not die, they nonetheless continue aging and become demented. 2 It is difficult to face the evil of immortality-or a long life-without eternal youth and sanity.
