摘要: Prospective memory is the label given to the cognitive process that allows one to delay an intention. In other words, prospective memory allows you to remember to do something in the future. A series of three experiments was conducted in an attempt to elucidate the underlying processes of prospective memory. The first experiment investigated the possible effects of importance on performance for both the prospective memory and ongoing tasks. Results suggest that participants perform better on the prospective memory task when they are instructed that the prospective memory task is more important than the ongoing task. The second experiment failed to replicate this effect. A third experiment examined the effects of practice on prospective memory and ongoing task performance.
