摘要: A total of 135 Streptomyces isolates was purified from soils from 3 fields in the Jordan Valley, Jordan, during autumn (42), spring (33), summer (32) and winter (28). The isolates were classified into 7 colour series: grey (68), blue (19), green (16), red (14), violet (8), yellow (6) and white (4). Of the isolates, 56% produced distinctive reverse side pigment while 30 and 23% produced melanin and soluble pigment, respectively. The highest frequency of melanin producing isolates was isolated during winter and the highest frequency of distinctive reverse side pigment producers was isolated during autumn. Of the isolates, 70% had spiral spore-chains, others had flexous (14%), rectus (13%) and retinaculum apertum (3%). Antibacterial activity was detected in 90% of isolates. Most active isolates were effective against Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, Escherichia coli and Agrobacterium tumefaciens.
