摘要: This chapter aims to acquaint the reader with the current debate on the prevalence of oral and written linguistic difficulties as a precursor of Specific Learning Difficulties (SLD). The barrier created by scientific literature in terms of the diversity of terminology regarding the definition of these pathologies--which clearly reflects the interests of various fields--has given rise to multiple nosological classifications to define the same disorder, which has in turn hampered a diagnostic classification. This situation, in addition to a historical constant of disagreement regarding the definition and identification of SLD, has led to the identification of SLD in a child who has shown no signs of intellectual, sensory, physical or perceptive impairment in their learning that would keep them from reaching the objectives for the course or corresponding academic year in which they are enrolled.
