摘要: Recently, there has been observed a tendency of scale-up and paneling of building materials. Shrinkage control of ceramics during sintering has become an important research problem. This paper describes effects of sintering conditions and sintering assistant on the sintering of wollastonite (CaSiO3). Powders of {beta}-wollastonite and 5 or 10 wt% of ALC (autoclaved light weight concrete) assistant powders were kneaded using toluene and ethanol mixture, were molded under 1 tf/cm{sup 2}, and were fired at a temperature ranging from 1000 to 1300 {degree}C. Sintered bodies with low shrinkage were obtained when fired at 1250 and 1270 {degree}C. The minimum shrinkage on sintering at 1270 {degree}C was as low as 0.25%. These sintered bodies consisted of {delta}-wollastonite. The compressive strength of the bodies was comparable to that of concrete. From the microscopic observations, it was considered that decreased shrinkage was due to the porous microstructures. 7 refs., 4 figs., 2 tabs.
