摘要: For the past ten years, the use of properly treated wastewater as an alternate means of meeting future demand has been gaining relevance in the country. It is generally accepted that steadily increasing municipal, industrial and agricultural water requirements will be creating a scarcity of the product in the near future for large, economically important regions of the Nation. The Safe Drinking Water Act of 1974 and the Clean Water Act of 1977 contain mandates of importance regarding renovation and recycling of this product and provide a clear legislative mandate for research, development and demonstration of reliable, cost effective technology for reclaiming and recycling wastewaters for beneficial uses, with the augmentation of domestic water supplies a major beneficial use.
