摘要: On the twenty-ninth of March, 1958, in the Vallauris Public School yard in Paris, Pablo Picasso unveiled the largest composition he had ever undertaken. Each panel, painted on the floor, was to be assembled on a wall of one hundred square metres in the main hall (the'Delegates' Lounge') of the UNESCO building in the heart of the city. Picasso referred to the piece simply as' the UNESCO painting'and had promised that it would'depict peaceful humanity turning its gaze toward the happy future'. 1
