摘要: Methods: Four groups of animals were studied (n= 3-4 per group) including:(a) sham operated control animals treated with saline (0.2 ml intraperitoneally, IP),(b) sham operated treated with SS31 (10 mg/kg/day given IP in saline),(c) cecal ligation perforation (CLP) animals treated with 0.2 ml saline IP, and (d) CLP animals treated with SS31 (10 mg/kg/day IP in saline). Animals were sacrificed 48 hours after surgery and diaphragm strips with attached phrenic nerves were studied in vitro in organ baths containing Krebs-Henseleit solution at 24 C. We assessed nerve stimulated force-frequency curves, muscle field stimulated force frequency curves and muscle fatigue (40 Hz stimulation with 0.330 sec trains every 1 sec. for 2 minutes).
