Microbial biosurfactants: current trends and applications in biomedical industries

摘要: Biosurfactants have the potential to disrupt the cell membrane of microbial pathogens, interact with specific targets, and are very stable biomolecules due to their self-aggregation properties. These surface-active agents also have immune modulatory activities to strengthen the immune system and can act as an excellent adjuvant to trigger the immune system. This chapter deliberates the current advances in the cost-effective production of biosurfactants along with the recent trend in the development of biosurfactants as drug delivery agent and their application in nanomaterial synthesis.
