摘要: This work looks at the movement of sediment from the dredging associated with Gladstone Port. Work has focused on the distribution and concentration of sediment before, during and after the dredging activity. Remote sensing imagery (MODIS) was analysed in order to differentiate the acute sediment impacts of Gladstone Port Corporation dredging activities from sediment attributable to other natural causes like river discharge and tide influences. The use of MODIS imagery is over 250m resolution and thus there are limitations to the application of the information available from these images. However, despite limitations, the use of remote sensing imagery has been useful in showing a significant increase in sediment concentrations (as calculated by remote sensing techniques) through the dredging period and also to identify the movement of the plume past the main mouth ofthe Gladstone Port area.The analyses …
